Off-Campus Access – VPN

Off-Campus Access – VPN

The Hasan Kalyoncu University VPN service allows students and staff outside the campus network to establish a secure, encrypted connection to institutional resources.

1. When Is VPN Required?

  • When accessing library electronic databases (YOK, Web of Science, Scopus, IEEE, Springer, etc.) from off-campus.
  • When access is needed to intranet-restricted applications such as SAP and EBYS.
  • When using software that must connect to a license server (MATLAB, SPSS, ANSYS, etc.).
  • For remote desktop, server management, and network share operations.

OBS, OYS, institutional email, and Google Drive services work directly over the internet; VPN is not required for these.

Information Security: During a VPN connection, HKU security policies apply to all network traffic. Accessing illegal content or performing unauthorized network scanning is not permitted.
